Yamazaki

Japan’s first official distillery, built in 1923 and with the first spirit running of the stills in November 1924, Yamazaki had been a small game player for most of its existence, that was until 1984 when it launched The Yamazaki Single Malt. These whiskies were easy to get hold of for quite a while, but from 2013 onwards Yamazaki picked of a host f awards for it’s 18YO & 25YO, including best whisky in the world for both bottlings in different years. After that we had the Jim Murray award which saw the demand of Yamazaki spiral into insane figures, causing them to decrease availability and some of Yamazaki’s other brands having to get rid of aged-stated stock in order to plan further ahead.
