Macallan Ruby 1824 Series
The Macallan Ruby was released as part of the larger 1824 Series. The 1824 Macallan single malt bottlings were launched as Macallan discontinued a few of its age statement bottles due to a lack of supply, as well as growing demand from consumers. The Gold, Amber, Sienna and Ruby releases were their solution to what turned out to be just a small stop gap of NAS standard Macallan releases. The Ruby was the fourth in the range, comprising the most intense sherry cask influences. The 1824 Series was discontinued a few years ago now, making the whole series, as well as individual bottles, quite sought after.
Few brands have the secondary market presence that Macallan has when it comes to both new releases and vintage bottles. Considered by all to be the ultimate collectible whisky, the range that Macallan have released over the years shows have put them at the forefront of super premium whisky. Renowned for their sherry cask maturation and beautiful bottle designs, Macallan have filled the gap of super-premium like no other brand in whisky before. Macallan holds the record for the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold as well as the most expensive cask of whisky sold at auction.
