Macallan Easter Elchies Black 2018
2018 was all about a new look for Macallan. However, November also found time for a long-awaited return from the past, the Easter Elchies series. The first releases to bear the name of the distillery's famous manor home were the Easter Elchies Seasonal Selection, launched in 2005, followed by a highly acclaimed and equally sought-after single cask series, the last of which was bottled in 2013. After a five year hiatus, Macallan released the Easter Elchies Black in 2018, with a slightly smokier side than normal for Macallan. Only 1958 bottles were produced. The Macallan Easter Elchies Black 2018 is the first of at least 3 in this series, with 2019 and 2020 releases under the same series.
Few brands have the secondary market presence that Macallan has when it comes to both new releases and vintage bottles. Considered by all to be the ultimate collectible whisky, the range that Macallan have released over the years shows have put them at the forefront of super premium whisky. Renowned for their sherry cask maturation and beautiful bottle designs, Macallan have filled the gap of super-premium like no other brand in whisky before. Macallan holds the record for the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold as well as the most expensive cask of whisky sold at auction.
