Bunnahabhain Distillery
Bunnahabhain is a classic Islay distillery that doesn’t release ‘traditional’ peated Islay whiskies, Bruichladdich being another example of this. Bunnahabhain do release some peated whisky, but their main style is sherry influence. Of all the Islay distilleries, Bunnahabhain is one that is continuously overlooked, but as it approaches its 150th anniversary it certainly shows that it has earned its place as a fantastic whisky producer. Bunnahabhain whiskies pack in flavour from heaps of Spanish cask influence and a slightly salty finish, really melding the Islay style sweet and savoury together.
Gordon & MacPhail
Gordon & Macphail are one of the oldest whisky bottlers to exist in the world. Bottling over 350 expressions from over 70 distilleries, as well as bottling whisky for numerous large distilleries in Scotland for decades. Bottling whisky for 115 years and now proud owners of the Benromach distillery since 1993. They did nearly purchase Strathisla Distillery from Seagram’s in the 1950’s, but Seagram’s wanted £71,000, whereas Gordon & Macpahil only offered £70,000. Imagine.
