Glenfiddich Centenary Edition 1887 -1987
This Glenfiddich Centenary whisky was bottled on Christmas Day 1986 to celebrate 100 years since the first whisky was distilled at Glenfiddich, on 25th December 1886. Released in 1987 as relatively large limited edition of 12,000, however as a 1980s bottling this is really quite rare at auction making it really quite good value. This is bottle 02292 and is presented with its original box.
The originators of the worlds first global single malt? Yes, that’s Glenfiddich. Launching their Straight Malt in 1963 with Sandy Grant Gordon carrying a suitcase full of bottles across the United States and getting the brand on TV adverts, as a result, Glenfiddich is more than likely to be the first single malt whisky that we ever meet. The size of Glenfiddich isn’t to be underestimated, as a company that produces single malt of all styles across the biggest single malt facility in the world, currently. To give you a scale of that size the distillery has a total of 43 stills…43!
