Brora Distillery
Whisky connoisseurs never thought they would see the day when Brora would reopen, yet Diageo announced way back in 2017 that the fabled distillery would reopen with a production aim of 800,000 litres per year. Finally beginning production again in 2021 fans and collectors of vintage Brora bottles will be paying avid attention to the distillery’s new dealings. The knock on impacts to the secondary market are already being felt across the vintage collectable bottles of Brora. Brora was founded in 1819, initially as Clynelish, its name was changed to Brora in 1969 after a new Clynelish distillery was opened. Brora only lasted an additional fourteen years under this name before it was closed as surplus to requirements in the early 80s. Since it closed Brora became a cult collectors malt, and the reopening has been met with much excitement in the drinking and collecting circles.
